Vijayawada, July 02: Expressing anguish over the derailment of four bogies of Hyderabad-bound Golconda Express near Warangal station this morning, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today stressed the need to study the existing technology to prevent the occurrence of such rail mishaps. Speaking to reporters at Indira Gandhi Stadium here, Naidu, who was on a transit stop to refuel his chopper to proceed to the mishap site, said there was a need for a scientific study and analysis over the existing technology to prevent rail accidents and added that he would discuss the matter with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Union Railway Minister Nitish Kumar.
To a query, he said "I am yet to visit the accident spot and therefore cannot comment anything about the accident".
The Chief Minister, who was participating in a Janmabhoomi programme at Venkannagudem village in west Godavari, later rushed for the accident spot, cancelling his Guntur district programme.
Seventeen persons were killed and 27 injured when the engine of Golconda Express fell from a bridge, derailing four bogies.
