Jammu, Dec 08: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that restoration of peace and creating a climate to bring in more investment to the state were his government's main objectives.
"We are very clear in our objectives. We want to change the situation, making it conducive for peace," Sayeed said addressing the general body meeting of the Jammu club here this afternoon. Efforts are being made to create a congenial climate for more investment in the state, Sayeed said.

Investment will not be only for development and welfare but it will be investment for peace too, he added.

Peace, good governance and equitable justice to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh were the government's watchwords, he said.
Referring to the talks he held with the Ladakh autonomous hill development council chairman, Sayeed said that all issues would be sorted out through dialogue.
On mitigating the sufferings of the victims of militancy, he said, though jobs were provided to some of the affected, much was yet to be done.

Sayeed said that the panchayats would be empowered to monitor the functioning of schools and dispensaries.
He described the education as a vital segment for bringing about a qualitative change in the society and said enormous responsibilities lie on teachers in shaping the destiny of younger generation.

On the demand for regularising village guards, he said that the government was examining how best their services could be utilised as an effective instrument in rural transformation.

He said that steps will be taken to convert 'panchayat ghars' into community centres by providing TV and radio sets.
