Srinagar, Nov 12: Asserting that his government would pursue the path of dialogue to restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said a comprehensive programme for all militancy victims would be prepared and Centre's funding would be sought to implement it.

Seeking cooperation from all political parties in providing a "healing touch" and check alienation, he said dialogue and not the bullet was a solution to any problem. Addressing the district development board meeting here last evening, he said that the government was committed to giving "a healing touch" to victims of militancy and "check alienation of the people" which was responsible for sustaining militancy in the state.

Maintaining that his government would pursue the path of dialogue as enshrined in the CMP, he urged political parties to rise above partisan interests and help in restoring peace in the militancy-torn state. He said "to err is human but still the accountability of the security forces would be ensured".

The Chief Minister said the victims of militancy need to be looked after with "compassion and care". This compassion had also to be extended to the children and families of the militants killed in encounters with the security forces, he said.

Sayeed said the situation in the state was an "enormous challenge" and no single individual or party could overcome it alone. He said in view of this he had ensured consensus on major issues which were chalked out in the CMP.

Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma told the meeting that the CMP was to "ensure" the "unity" in the state. Government would ensure equitable development of the three regions - Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir - of the state, he said. Bureau Report
