New Delhi, Sept 27: The Indian Air Force has inducted a new multi-role Sukhoi aircraft in Pune today. Defence Minister George Fernandes inaugurated the induction ceremony. The SU-30 MKI, which is considered a much more efficient combat machine than the existing aircraft, has a varied range of tactical and operational capabilities, and can also be used as a tanker and an early warning system. The new aircraft has a mid-air refuelling system, which will almost double its flight range from 3,000 kms to 5,200 kms. It can also operate in any weather condition.
It`s capable of hitting surface, air and sea targets with smart weaponry at a substantial distance from the home base. Bureau Report
