Lucknow, Aug 25: Uttar Pradesh Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri today consulted constitutional and legal experts following chief minister Mayawati recommending dissolution of the assembly and BJP withdrawing support to her government. A Raj Bhawan official told pti that the governor was weighing pros and cons of the day's political developments and was likely to take a final decision after minutely examining the opinion of legal and constitutional experts.

Earlier, Shastri told reporters he had received two letters - one from the leader of the BJP Legislature Party Lalji Tandon withdrawing support to the 16-month old Mayawati-led government and the other from the chief minister recommending dissolution of the state assembly and holding of fresh elections.
"I will examine both the letters and take an appropriate decision in due course of time", the governor said.
