New York, Aug 10: Rejecting charges that his government was indulging in a witch-hunt against officials close to his political rivals, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said corruption cases have been registered only on the basis of documentary proof. My government has instituted cases against officials only on the basis of documentary evidence, he said yesterday at the end of a two-day visit to the US. "What has come out so far is only a tip of the iceberg, he said, adding his government would not spare anyone who is found to have indulged in corrupt practice."
"If someone has collected Rs 80 crore without any visible sources of income, then it is corruption," he said.
To fight corruption, it is necessary that the accountability begins at the top and that is exactly what my government is doing, he told reporters. His government, Singh added, has come to power on the platform of fighting corruption and providing transparency and it would continue to do so.
