Jakarta, Sep 02: Some 215 scientists from Indonesia and the Netherlands are holding a two-day meeting in Jakarta to discuss various research subjects and share their research experiences. "Indonesian and Dutch scientists have a long-established cooperation in research, particularly in the field of agriculture and health issues," State Minister of Research and Science Hatta Rajasa said after opening the "Open science meeting" here yesterday.

Hatta said in the future, the research cooperation between the two countries will be focussed on the issue of water management, food and agriculture, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
"We hope experts from the Netherland will share their knowledge on water management, particularly on irrigation, river treatment, and reclamation studies," he said.

Deputy chief of mission of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Indonesia, Alphonsus Stoelinga, said the meeting also aimed to promote cooperation between the scientific worlds in the two countries.
