Bhopal, Dec 02: Repolling has been recommended in 63 polling stations of Madhya Pradesh in view of violence and booth-capturing during the assembly elections yesterday, State Chief Electoral Officer D S Mathur said today. Along with repolling, voting would be completed tomorrow in ten polling stations where the exercise had been stopped midway following disturbances, he told.

Of the booths where repolling has been recommended to the Election Commission, 20 are in dacoit-infested Bhind district, 13 in Tikamgarh, 16 in Shivpuri, four each in Morena and Sagar and three in Dhar district, he said.

Mathur said voter turnout was now estimated to be about 65 per cent with Naxalite-affected Balaghat district recording the higher voting of 77 per cent. However, final figures from six of the 45 districts in the state are yet to be received, he said. He said the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the polling staff have safely reached the respective district headquarters where counting is scheduled to be held on December 04.

Mathur said a vehicle carrying poll personnel and EVMs overturned at Sailana village in Ratlam district causing injury to some staff members but there was no damage to the machines.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for smooth counting and safety of EVMs, he added. Bureau Report
