Kolkata, Aug 02: Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee today said that Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee had failed in her mission to dislodge the Left Front government in West Bengal, and had instead succeeded in weakening the Congress in the state politically and dividing non-left votes. "Mamata Bannerjee has not succeeded in achieving anything to pose any threat to the Left Front government here, Mukherjee told reporters while briefing newsmen on the state party's secretariat meeting.
"If there is one success that Mamata Banerjee can take credit for in the last five years since forming Trinamool Congress by breaking away from the Congress has been to weaken the Congress and dividing non-Left votes," he said.
Mukherjee, the president of the West Bengal Pradesh said that despite her popularity among the masses, the TC chief had failed all these years to make her organisation strong and her party was devoid of any programmes and policies.
"As a result, those in the congress who joined Trinamool Congress before the last assembly elections with the hope that the party would dislodge the left front regime and would effectively carry on the anti-left struggle are getting disillusioned and now returning to the parent party."

Mukherjee also announced that the state president of the Nationalist Congress Party and a former Congress MLA Sheikh Daulat Ali and Trinamool Congress's Dr Nooruzaman and Fazle Ali Mollah, a former Congress MLA had joined the Congress.
