Kohima, May 19: The Naga People's Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) has stated that the Union government was ''too immature'' to address the decade-old Naga political problem. ''The Centre is too young to meet the Nagas' desires and aspirations,'' NPMHR member Keviletuo said at a function here recently.

He also ridiculed some Naga leaders' ''misconception'' that the vexed Naga issue would be tabled in the United Nations for early redressal and urged the people not to be carried away by such ''unrealistic propaganda''. He pointed out that the UN would not discuss the Naga issue till the country sanctioned permission to do so. No nation would recognise the Naga problem until India approved, he said.

The NPMHR leader was skeptical of some Naga leaders' concept that the Nagas only wanted people's sovereignty and said no nation in the world was fully independent as some Nagas insisted.

''The Naga militant leaders should have a clear concept of what is sovereignty and independence,'' he added. Bureau Report
