New Delhi, Mar 05: Government today said all steps have been taken to evacuate Indian nationals from Gulf in the event of a war in Iraq. This was stated by minister of state for external affairs Digvijay Singh after attending a function to hand over 57 buses to Afghanistan as part of India's economic assistance to the war ravaged nation. The minister said the government was ready with contingency plans to evacuate the 40 lakh Indians settled in the region.
State-owned carriers, Air India and Indian Airlines have already decided to operate special flights to airlift Indian nationals from the gulf if there was a war in Iraq.
