Kingston (Jamaica), Aug 30: Caribbean countries can begin applying in November to host matches in cricket`s 2007 World Cup.
Interested governments have until January 31 to submit
applications, Chris Dehring, managing director of the West
Indies cricket board`s organising committee, said yesterday.
Officials must show that their country`s infrastructure meets international cricket standards, he said.
"We are not just talking about stadiums," Dehring said. "We are dealing with proper airports, marinas and health facilities. These need to be in place for any country to be considered."
The West Indies, which won the first two world cups in England in 1975 and 1979, will be hosting the tournament for the first time. Bureau Report
