Carrying forward its talks with Trinamool Congress (TC) for a tie-up in the West Bengal assembly elections, the Congress high command today summoned five PCC leaders to Delhi on Wednesday to sort out the `thorny issue` of seat-sharing. AICC`s invitation to the PCC leaders followed Sunday night`s one-to-one meeting between party general secretary Kamal Nath and TC chief Mamata Banerjee after she withdrew support to the NDA and resigned as railway minister. PCC Vice-President Pradip Bhattacharya said AICC General Secretary Kamal Nath, in-charge of West Bengal, called him up last night and asked the state congress leaders to meet him in Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the modalities of seat-sharing with TC.
Party sources said the meeting would primarily be aimed at securing a satisfactory solution to the thorny issues of sharing of seats acceptable to both sides. Bhattacharya said he, along with the CLP leader Atish Chandra Sinha, former PCC Chief Somen Mitra, Manas Bhuinya and Kumud Bhattacharya, would meet Kamal Nath on Thursday.
