United Kingdom, Jan 18: Gary Neville has dismissed the recent criticism of his Manchester United team-mate Ryan Giggs as completely unwarranted. Giggs was booed by a minority of United fans during the Worthington Cup draw with Blackburn earlier this month.
And the Welsh winger's absence from the squad against West Brom last week fuelled rumours that he had been dropped.
But United boss Sir Alex Ferguson insists Giggs was injured - and defender Neville shrugged off talk of a slump in form. "The players haven't spoken out over it because you are adding to something which doesn't warrant a mention.
"I don't feel the need to defend one of the best and most successful players Manchester United have ever had," Neville told MUTV.
Giggs will return to the United squad for Saturday's Premiership game against title rivals Chelsea. And Ferguson, who left him on the bench after defeats at Blackburn and Middlesbrough, insists he is not worried about the player's recent form.

"He has had a couple of indifferent performances by his own standards, but over the course of a whole season every player gets that," said Ferguson. "He had an injury which meant he couldn't play last week, so the answer lies with Ryan."
