England, July 02: With David Beckham on the point of signing for Real Madrid, Sunderland striker David Bellion on Tuesday signed for Manchester United on a four-year deal. Seven months after they were first linked with the player, the Reds announced the signing of the 20-year-old Frenchman on a free transfer. His contract with relegated Sunderland expired on Monday. "I am really excited to be joining Manchester United," the former Cannes forward told the Manchester United Web site.
"When you are young they are one of the clubs you dream of playing for. I am ready to work hard and give 100 per cent to United, and Im already focused on the new season ahead."
Reds manager Alex Ferguson admitted the transfer was long drawn out.

"It has been a long process to complete this deal," he said.

"We did not know whether David would go abroad or come to us, and we are delighted he has chosen Manchester United. He is a young player with great potential who will fit into the clubs future plans very well."

Ferguson also is trying to buy Brazilian World Cup star Ronaldinho from Paris Saint Germain although the French club appears to be holding out for as much cash as it can get.
