Union petroleum minsiter Ram Naik has said that the government had stayed further processing of allotment of petrol pump to Lily George, wife of Congress President Sonia Gandhi's personal secretary Vincent George. He added that efforts were on to trace the missing file relating to it. "The further processing of the offer has been stayed till satisfactory explanation about compassionate grounds on which lily was granted a petrol pump in 1991 is received", Naik told reporters. The minister said efforts were on to retrace the "missing" file, adding he stumbled upon the matter while pursuing with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) the issue of making available land to Kargil martyrs' relatives, who had been allotted petrol pumps and gas stations.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), the company through which the petrol pump was to be allotted, and lily have been asked to explain the compassionate grounds on which the pump had to be allotted, he said. Bureau Report
