Kathmandu, Aug 06: Five people, including four security personnel, were killed and ten others injured in Panchthar district in East Nepal after a landmine laid by Maoist rebels exploded.
Four security personnel and a driver were killed and ten others injured yesterday when they were patrolling the area, said a report quoting security sources.
Ten security personnel, who sustained injuries in the incident, were admitted to the nearby hospital for medical treatment, the radio said. Meanwhile, the home ministry has in a statement denounced the attack as a "heinous crime" committed by the Maoist insurgents during the truce and cautioned them to refrain from such activities which otherwise may derail the peace process.
"The government is committed to continue the peace process for establishing lasting peace in the country and we also expect same attitude from the Maoists," the ministry said in a statement. Bureau Report
