Islamabad, Aug 23: Pakistan would have separate squads for Tests and One-Day internationals, chairman of National Selection Committee Aamir Sohail has said.
Sohail, who is currently commentating for a television channel on the Pakistan-Bangladesh test in Karachi, said that the selection committee has now started working on lines of preparing separate squads.
"The idea now is to lay stress on specialization in the test squad," Sohail was quoted as saying by the news.
"Our idea is to build a One-Day squad based on youth with stress on selecting players who are more batting all-rounders," he said.
Sohail said teams that did well in the World Cup this year were those who had batting all-rounders and not those with bowling all-rounders.

Denying that the selection committee has ruled out certain players, he said "look, we have not said that so and so player should forget about playing for Pakistan again.

"As far as our test squad is concerned we will follow horses for courses policy and if we need a senior player we will call him up."

Sohail cited the recall of Inzamam-ul-Haq to support his statement. "We never dropped Inzamam . We knew he needed a break because he is the sort of player who has a history of having long bad patches."
