HC directs Maywati, Bundela to file counter-affidavit
Allahabad, Mar 05: The Allahabad High Court today directed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and MLA Pooran Singh Bundela to file counter-affidavit on a writ petition challenging allotment of forest land to the legislator in Lalitpur district in contravention of law.

Lalitpur district in contravention of law.
A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Tarun
Chatterjee and Justice R K Agarwal, passed the order on a
writ petition filed by one B R Dubey, a resident of Allahabad
district.
Alleging that forest land worth crores of rupees were
allotted to the MLA by the mines and minerals department and
the forest department at the instance of the Chief Minister,
the petitioner sought a CBI probe into the incident.
The court gave four weeks time to the respondents, including Mayawati, Bundela, the principal secretary (forests and mines), the Lalitpur District Magistrate and the senior Superintendent of Police, to file counter-affidavits. Bureau Report
