Bhopal, Mar 26: Opposition BJP members today walked
out of the Madhya Pradesh assembly to protest power cuts in
the state which they said were causing hardships to students,
farmers and traders.
During the question hour, the leader of opposition
Babulal Gaur and some other BJP members, including Narottam
Mishra and Bhupendra Singh charged that the National Thermal
Power Corporation (NTPC) was willing to sell power to Madhya
Pradesh but the state government was not buying it.
However, energy minister Bisahulal Singh said the Madhya
Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB) was not able to buy
electricity from anywhere to supply between 7:00pm and
11:00pm.
Singh said the issue was discussed with the NTPC which
had promised to supply power it gives to Bihar, to the state
from April 15.
Dissatisfied with the reply, the BJP members shouted slogans and walked out of the house to protest the state government policy of "not purchasing electricity which was causing problems to people."
