Lucknow, June 13: The day Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati reached after a from 15-day foreign tour, the Crime Branch of the CID served summons on former BSP minister Amar Mani Tripathi in the poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case though he earlier refused to accept it. He has been asked to appear before the investigating officer of the CB-CID within two days, police sources said today.

Officials claim that earlier an attempt was made to serve a summons to Tripathi yesterday afternoon, but he refused to accept it. Later the CB-CID sought the help of SSP, Lucknow Vijay Kumar in serving the summons to the sacked minister, which Tripathi is believed to have personally received.

Incidentally, just four days are left for the CB-CID to complete the probe according to the time frame set by the chief minister Mayawati, who had asked the investigating agency to complete the probe within one month.

The case was handed over to the CB-CID on May 19 after Tripathi`s alleged relationship with slained poetess came to light.

Madhumita was shot dead by two assailants at her paper mill colony residence on May 9 last.

Deceased poetess` sister Nidhi had levelled allegation that Tripathi`s wife was behind this murder. However, she later withdrew the charges saying that she was misquoted.
