Chennai, Mar 06: Doubting whether the security of India would be safe in the 'hands of a foreigner,' the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu on Saturday pledged to help in installing a 'strong and stable government' at the centre under the leadership of Vajpayee to protect the country's 'sovereignty, integrity and security' and to make it a powerful and developed economy in the comity of nations.
Persons who hold high offices, must necessarily be born citizens of this country. 'The AIADMK stands unshakeably committed to this fundamental principle', the party's manifesto released by the AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa said.

Without any fanfare, the manifesto was released at her residence this evening and the first copy was handed over to party presidium chairman C Ponnaiyan. The copies were later distributed to the press.

Hitting out at Sonia Gandhi, the manifesto said the 'opportunistic political forces that now seek to handover the leadership of this great country to such a person who has demonstrated her obvious reluctance to be known as an Indian, raises serious doubts amongst all patriotic Indians as to whether the security of the country could ever be safe in the hands of such forces'.
'It is the aim of the AIADMK to establish a strong government at the centre headed by Vajpayee to root out extremist forces and make the Indian sub-continent a haven of peace and tranquility, just as Tamil Nadu is today', the manifesto said. Bureau Report
