Bhaonta (Rajasthan), Nov 02: Heir to the British Throne Prince Charles today visited an award-winning water harvesting project in Bhaonta village of Rajasthan. On the third day of his stay in Jaipur, the Prince flew to the village, 100 km from the Pink City, by a chopper and then walked nearly a km to "Sankara" dam with a group of villagers led by 'water man' Rajendra Singh whose NGO Tarun Bharat Sangh is running the project designed by him.
The Prince congratulated Singh for his novel work in atiny village.
Singh was presented the "Down to Earth" prize by former president K R Narayanan for the project which has brought greenery to the drought-affected village by conservation of rain water through catchment areas.
Later, the prince flew to Aoo village in Ajmer district where he met child singers of Langa and Manganiyars' culture.
He also witnessed basket-weaving by the poor families of the area and traditional leather crafts and cot-making by skilled artisans.
The Prince later returned to Jaipur and flew to Jodhpur where he would visit Mehrangarh and Nagaur Forts tomorrow.
