Shillong, May 29: The Meghalaya police today arrested the wife of San Ngian Thanga, the absconding international drug dealer, and an accomplice under the foreigners act and forwarded them to a court here. A senior official of the Madanriting police station of Shillong told that the police arrested Thanga's wife, Gloria Remi, along with her children and Jolianga, the accomplice of Thanga, and produced them in a court with a request to remand them to 14 days' judicial custody,
The officer, who has been interrogating the duo since May 23, said that they were charged with staying in Shillong without any valid documents for three years.
Remi and Jolianga were under police surveillance in their rented premises in Shillong since their premises were raided by the customs officials on May 22 and some documents were seized.
While the customs officials established that Thanga's birth certificate, reportedly issued by the Mizoram government, was a 'fake' one, the police concluded that his wife and the accomplice were also Myanmarese citizens.
Thanga, who disappeared from the ground floor flat of the former CBI top brass, Upen Biswas, in Kolkata which he had hired on rent, regularly supplied chemicals and laboratory equipment to five foreign nationals who were later arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on May 17.
Twenty-four kgs of ephidrine hydrochloride, a controlled psychotrophic substance, was recovered from the five accused. Bureau Report
