Rains wreak havoc in UP, 29 killed in two days
Lucknow, July 13: At least 29 people have been killed in continuous heavy rains and lightning in Uttar Pradesh in the past two days with which have sent major rivers in spate, Met Department said today.

Nearly all rivers, including Ganga, Yamuna and Sharda were likely to cross the danger mark at many places if the downpour continued for some more hours, a Met Department official told news agencies.
Rains have lashed almost whole of eastern, central and parts of western Uttar Pradesh with Mainpuri recording 101 mm, Agra 71 mm, Gorakhpur 58 mm, Mirzapur 34 mm and Sitapur 23 mm rains since last night, he said.
At least seven people were killed in Mainpuri as the roof of their house collapsed in the heavy downpour last night.
Four people died of lightning in Etawah.
Three people, including a woman, died in Jahanaganj in Azamgarh district due to lightning while two brick-klin workers were killed in Varanasi following a roof collapse.
A 15-year-old girl was killed and eight others injured when the wall of their house collapsed in a Sitapur village this morning, the official said.
