New Delhi: It was an ordinary Monday morning in every way for Wayne Nickerson, a Massachusetts lobsterman, until he pulled the bright blue lobster from the waters off Cape Cod coast.

According to the Associated Press, he let out loud exclamation after spotting the rare blue lobster in his catch and immediately named it 'Bleu'.


This is the second time Wayne caught the super rare lobster. The first one he caught was in 1990.


The uncommon , bright blue color in lobsters are a type of genetic defect and occurs due to abundance of a protein that causes bright blue hue, according to the Lobster Institute at the University of Maine. Oceanographers estimate that this genetic defect is found in just 1 in every 2 million lobster population.
