State-owned Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) will sell India remote-controlled surveillance planes in a deal worth $ 250 million to $ 300 million, an Israeli defence official said today. ''IAI is selling Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to india,'' said the official, who asked not to be identified, adding that the planes were slated for delivery starting next year. The work will be done by IAI's subsidieries Elta and Taman. News reports have indicated the planes, which are equipped with cameras, will be used for intelligence gathering and will be stationed in Kashmir, on India's border with Pakistan.
However, IAI officials declined to comment. Bureau report
