The visiting fact-finding NDA team on Sunday said going by reports from different quarters over the Trinamool Congress allegation of massacre of 18 persons at Chota Angara village on January 6, it could safely be said that the district administration was guilty of negligence. It is surprising that even after three days of the incident the district administration, which dismissed Trinamool allegations, made no effort to know what exactly happened there, the leader of the five-member NDA team, Vijoy Goel, told reporters. Besides Goel, other members of the team are Capt Inder Singh (INLD), Prabhat Samantrai (BJD), Sanjay Nirupam (Shiv Sena) and R C Krishnan (MDMK). The team reached Midnapore Sunday evening and would visit the village Monday morning. Trinamool MP, Sudip Bandyopadhyay accompanied the team.
The state government had reported that one house was burnt in the village. But, who burnt it and why it was burnt, and other such questions were yet to be answered. It is surprising that no police sniffer dog was deployed despite having blood-stained clothes and burnt human bones strewn around the charred house, Goel, a BJP MP, said. Bureau Report
