Government and the oppositon on Tuesday agreed to end the week-long deadlock in Lok Sabha over the Ayodhya issue by deciding to have a discussion on Wednesday and voting on a censure motion on Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee`s controversial remarks on Ram Temple construction and the demand for the resignation of three chargesheeted ministers. The breakthrough came at an all party meeting convened by Speaker G M C Balayogi who told reporters, "The house will take up the issue under rule 184, modalities of which will be worked out by me." Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan told reporters that it was agreed upon the discussion would begin after the question hour on Wednesday. If the debate spills over to Thursday the prime minister will reply the same day and there will be voting if needed.
However, in the Rajya Sabha where the government is in minority there seems to be no agreement yet.
Buoyed by Opposition`s success in forcing a discussion in Lok Sabha on Ayodhya issue, Congress on Tuesday said its strategy on censure motion in the Rajya Sabha would be decided on Wednesday.
