Over Rs one crore has been disbursed as ex-gratia relief among next of kin of the victims of insurgency-related incidents in Budgam district of central Kashmir in the last nine months, deputy commissioner, Budoam, Rohit Kansel said on Tuesday.

Addressing a meeting convened to review the progress in sanctioning and disbursing ex-gratia relief to victims of militancy in the district, Kansel said that Rs 46,00,000 had been sanctioned to next of kin of innocent civilians who had died in militancy war-related incidents. "Over Rs 57 lakh has been sanctioned to 96 persons whose houses and other structures suffered damages," he said.

Regarding losses due to natural calamities, he said that 35 cases had already been disposed of and nearly Rs 2.50 lakh had been sanctioned as relief to the affected families. Bureau Report
