Gwalior
A city with a colourful history that goes back over a millennia, Gwalior claims its origin from a legend according to which a warrior called Suraj Sen was cured of an incurable disease by a hermit, Gwalipa, who lived on the hilltop where the present Gwalior fort stands. The warrior in gratitude founded the city of Gwalior.

Gwalior has now become a city of immense importance and a wonderful place to witness the magnificent Moghul Architecture. The fact that it was ruled by many mighty rulers and has been the birthplace of many dynasties has ensured that it has a varied architectural heritage with each dynasty leaving its own indelible mark over the city.
