Former union ministers P Chidambaram, S R Balasubramaniam, Jayanthi Natarajan and Dhanuskhodi Athithan were among scores of TMC volunteers arrested from parts of Tamil Nadu when they attempted to picket state government offices protesting Anti-People Policies of the state and Central governments.

TMC spokesman B S Gnanadesikan and Vice-President S G Vijayagamurthy told in Tamil Nadu that the picketing programme was peacesful, highly successful and beyond our expectation.
“Nearly 1.25 lakh party workers courted arrest in all the 234 assembly constituencies of the state,” they said.
While former Finance Minister Chidambaram was taken into custody at Karaikudi, Balasubramaniam and Jayanthi Natarajan were taken into custody in the city and Athithan in Tiruchendur.
