Defence Minister George Fernandes on Sunday said that Pakistan was stepping up its activities at the border in the western sector and susceptibly its aim is to try to create a Kargil type situation.
He told newspersons in varanasi that the government was keeping a constant watch on the situation and intentions of Pakistan.
“The country's defence forces are fully prepared to meet any eventuality and would give a befitting reply to Pakistan if they tried any misadventure,” Fernandes added.
To a question about close relations between Pakistan and China, the defence minister said that there is nothing to worry about. Pakistan and China are old allies.
To another question, Fernandes said that the new relation between the USA and India will pave the way for more closer cooperation and understanding between the two countries in all fields. Bureau Report
