It’s time once more for Christmas trees, cookies and the good old festive cheer. This is also a difficult season as one is not quite sure what kind of sweets to make. But, here’s the easy way out. We bring you from our very own Chef’s basket, a selection of the oldest, finest and truly original recipes. Plum Pudding
Ingredients

4 handsful of flour


  • 3 tsp of canola oil


  • 2 eggs


  • 1 tsp nutmeg


  • 1/4 tsp cloves


  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon


  • 2 tsp cocoa powder


  • 1/2 orange rind, cut


  • 3/4 cup raisins


  • 4 tsp sugar


  • ½ cup ginger ale


  • A little rum for garnish
  • Procedure


  • Stir all ingredients together and put in a microwave bowl.


  • It should be of the consistency of a soupy batter.


  • Microwave on `High` for 5 1/2 minutes and let it sit for another 5 1/2 minutes.


  • Pour rum over and set alight.


  • Serve hot with whipped cream.
    Christmas Wreath Cookies
    Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter
    1 (16 oz.) bag marshmallows
    7 c. corn flakes
    Green food coloring
    Blue food coloring

    Procedure
    Melt butter in pan. Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Add food coloring until mixture is a nice "holly" green. Remove from heat and pour over corn flakes in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly. On wax paper, form wreath-shaped cookies and decorate. Fruitcake Cookies
    1 c. margarine
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. Salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. Cinnamon
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. each candied red & green cherries, cut in quarters
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted dates, chopped
    2 c. pecans, chopped
    Procedure
    Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Combine flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon; gradually add to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in remaining ingredients. Batter will be stiff. Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 13 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 1 minute; remove cookies to wire racks and cool completely. Snowballs Cookies
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. Salt

    Procedure
    Mix and set aside above ingredients. Blend:

    3/4 c. butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. Vanilla

    Beat in 1 egg. Stir in dry ingredients. Add:
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. semi sweet chocolate bits
    1 c. chopped nuts

    Shape in 1" balls. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees on an ungreased cookie sheet. Cool and roll in powdered sugar. Freeze well.
