Court marriages will now be costlier in Bihar with the cash-strapped state government's decision to hike the fee for court marriages. The state cabinet on Wednesday amended rule 10 of Bihar special marriage rules and hiked the court marriage fee.
Those wanting to get married in court will now have to pay Rs 100 as registration fee and an extra Rs 100 for investigating objections in place of an earlier fee of Rs 100. In case of objections, the court will charge Rs 200 for investigating each objection. Besides, each witness will have to pay Rs 50.

Further, Rs 200 will be charged for conducting the marriage and those wanting to take the registrar out of court premises for purposes of solemnising the marriage will have to cough up an extra Rs 600. Bureau Report
