The first of the new Pralaya class missile warships will be inducted into the Indian Navy at Goa on Thursday. The indigenously built missile vessel, though small in size with a displacement of 477 tonnes will carry the same punch in terms of surface to surface missiles as the Delhi class, according to a naval release. Propelled by four gas turbines, Parlaya missile vessels are capable of attaining speed in excess of 35 knots. The first warship of the class will be launched by Tasneem Mohd Fazal, wife of the Goa governor at Goa shipyard. Bureau Report
