Three Indian soldiers were killed in a clash with Myanmar troops in the border district of Mon in Nagaland on Wednesday, an army spokesman said on Thursday. Though media reports put the death toll at five, the spokesman said that only three Indian soldiers were killed in a case of mistaken identity by the Myanmar troops in a clash at 4.30 pm on Wednesday. The spokesman said after the clash, a flag meeting of the Indian and Myanmar troops commanders was held near the border at which the local Myanmar army unit commander tendered an unqualified apology for his troops opening fire on an Indian border petrol.
