Parrikar was speaking at a prize distribution ceremony of a 10 km and 3 km marathon of the second edition of the JK Cement Swachh ability run held in Panaji.

"I told soldiers that martyrdom is great and sacrifice for the nation is must but it doesn't mean you get killed," Parrikar said.

"Kill your enemy first when you go fighting," the former union minister added.

"As a Defence Minister, I always tried to ensure that minimum life is lost," he said.

The Chief Minister also asserted that sometime differently-abled people can contribute more to the society than normal ones.
