The press meet is scheduled to be held at 1 pm.

On Monday, Rahul was elected unopposed as the new Congress President, taking over the reins from his mother Sonia Gandhi who was at the helm of the party affairs for 19 years.

With Rahul Gandhi in a spree of addressing rallies in poll-bound Gujarat, the grand old party is attempting an electoral revival.

The 47-year-old will be the fifth Congress president post-independence and sixth pre-independence, after he takes over as the president on December 16.

With the end of the first phase of polling on Saturday, over 68 percent turnout was recorded for 89 Assembly seats in the state.

Scheduled on December 14, the second phase of voting for the high-stakes election will be held for the remaining 93 seats.

Gujarat has 182 assembly constituencies. The counting of votes will take place on December 18.
