250 students taken ill after taking deworming tablets in Tripura
About 250 students of different schools of Kadamtala block were administered deworming tablets this afternoon as part of National Deworming Day programme. However, many students complained of pain in abdomen and respiratory trouble after consuming the tablets.
Dharmanagar (Tripura): About 250 students were taken ill after consuming deworming tablets in various schools in Kadamtala block of North Tripura district Wednesday.
"About 250 students of different schools of Kadamtala block were administered deworming tablets this afternoon as part of National Deworming Day programme. However, many students complained of pain in abdomen and respiratory trouble after consuming the tablets," Pradip Acharya, Sub-divisional Magistrate of Dharmanagar, said.
The students were immediately admitted to Kadamtala hospital and medical teams were sent to the block. Most of the students were sent back home after treatment, he said.
Acharya said, only 15 students are still under treatment in hospital, whose condition was stated to be out of danger.
The tablets were distributed free by the health department under National Health Mission as part of National Deworming Day programme, he said.
