The constituency that’s in the south district of Kanpur has been claimed once by BJP and Congress since the assembly elections of 1977.


In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Satyadev Pachauri won from Kanpur Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with a margin of 155934 votes by defeating Sriprakash Jaiswal from the Indian National Congress.

The Indian National Congress (INC) has fielded one-time MLA Ajay Kapoor while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has the incumbent nominated Mahesh Chandra Tiwari


From Samajwadi Party, a candidate named Abhimanyu has contested the elections for the Kidwai Nagar seat while BSP has fielded Mohan Misra.

The BJP has fielded the incumbent MLA Mahesh Chandra Tiwari from the Kidwai Nagar seat.


In the 2017 assembly elections, Mahesh Tiwari won the polls with a margin of 33983 votes by defeating Congress’s Ajay Kapoor.


Before that, the seat was long held by Congress’s Ajay Kapoor.

Long-time Congress leader Ajay Kapoor, who has been the MLA of the Kidwai Nagar seat from 2012-2017, is representing the party in Kanpur’s Kidwai Nagar seat.


Kapoor, who is a popular name among the Kidwai Nagar constituents, has two criminal cases pending against him.


Samajwadi Party candidate from Kidwai Nagar assembly constituency


From the Samajwadi Party camp, Abhimanyu has been fielded against the BJP and Congress.


As per the EC nomination filing, Abhimanyu is a post-graduate by qualification and has one criminal case reported against his name.


BSP candidate, Kidwai Nagar Vidhan Sabha seat


Mayawati’s Bahujan Samajwadi Party has fielded Mohan Misra, 39, for the 2022 assembly elections. According to his nomination filing, he is a postgraduate and has no criminal cases pending against him.


AAP candidate from Kidwai Nagar Vidhan Sabha constituency


AAP has nominated Vivek Dwivedi as its candidate for the 2022 assembly elections and is a post-graduate bu qualification.

Other candidates contesting in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from Kidwai Nagar are: Seema Uttam (BSCP), Rakesh Kumar Dixit (JSP), Pawan Kumar Tiwari (SHS), Alok Kumar (SJP), Sitaram Shukla (IND).

The final result is yet awaited, but BJP's Mahesh Trivedi is leading with 89,395 votes.
