Jammu and Kashmir achieved the milestone of 100 per cent coverage of the first jab Covid-19 vaccine for the age group of above 18 years old today.

  • Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee workers on Thursday protested outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal`s residence at Civil Lines. The protest was held against the Delhi government`s decision not to allow Chhath Puja in public places this year owing to the Covid pandemic.

    The demonstration was led by Congress Delhi unit president Anil Kumar. Along with former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler, other state Congress leaders also participated in the rally. 

  • A fire broke out at a residential building, in which a factory was being allegedly run, in Delhi`s Kirari area on Thursday afternoon, but no casualties were reported, a fire department official said. The official said that they received a call about the fire at the 70 foot road, Prem Nagar, Kirari at around 2.50 p.m. and 12 fire tenders were sent to the spot.

    "The smoke could be seen billowing out from the top floor of the three-storey building. All the three floors had caught fire," he said.

  • At least four persons, including two children, were injured when a bus rammed into a shanty near Kolkata Railway Station on Thursday, a local ward coordinator said. All the four have been taken to hospital for treatment, Anindya Raut said.

    The incident took place when a stationary bus was hit from behind by another bus, he said. (PTI)

  • Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked the government over the rise in prices of petrol and diesel and accused the Centre of "tax extortion".

    "There used to be stories of greedy misgovernance under which taxes were collected indiscriminately in old folk tales. At first, the people used to be unhappy but in the end the people used to end that misgovernance. In reality also, the same will happen," Gandhi tweeted in Hindi using the hashtags 'TaxExtortion' and 'FuelPrices'.
