Four more Omicron cases take Kerala`s tally to 15

  • Delhi: Rajya Sabha adjourned till 3 pm amid Opposition's protest over the suspension of 12 MPs from the House as well as the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

  • Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has urged the Centre to allow booster doses for health workers and other citizens to fight new COVID-19 variants like Omicron. He also said that there is no need to panic and that his government has all arrangements in place. He informed that in order to strengthen the home isolation program, a review meeting will be held on December 23.

     

     
  • Piyush Goyal: The 12 suspended Rajya Sabha MPs should realise their mistake and talk to the Chair. The Opposition leaders did not come for the meeting called by the Government today. The Opposition does not want the Parliament to run. Causing disturbance and disruption is their mantra.

  • Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal: Given the rise in cases for some days, now all positive cases in Delhi will be sent for genome sequencing for Omicron.

  • Delhi: Opposition MPs will conduct a march from Gandhi statue in Parliament to Vijay Chowk at 1230 pm tomorrow, demanding the resignation of MoS Home Ajay Kumar Misra, in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri case, reports ANI.

  • Kerala: Four new Omicron cases confirmed in the state today. Case's tally of the new COVID-19 variant now increased to 15. 

  • Delhi: 'The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021.' introduced in Lok Sabha. House, meanwhile, has been adjourned till 2 pm amid uproar by the Opposition leaders.

  • Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding a meeting with senior ministers including Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Union ministers Pralhad Joshi and Piyush Goyal, in Parliament, to discuss various issues and government strategy for the ongoing Winter Session, reports ANI.

New Delhi: Four new cases of Omicron were detected in Kerala on Monday, taking the state's overall tally to 15. Two cases of the new variant of coronavirus were detected in patients aged 41 and 67. Two other cases of Omicron were detected in a 32-year old man who came from Nigeria on December 17 and a 27-year-old woman who was included in the contact list of a flight passenger. She came from the UK on December 12.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 3 pm amid uproar by opposition parties. The development came shortly after Opposition parties decided to not attend the meeting called by the government to end the deadlock in Rajya Sabha in the ongoing winter session of Parliament. The decision was made after a meeting of opposition parties this morning.


Earlier in the day, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge had accused the government of trying to divide the Opposition by calling only a few parties to resolve the ongoing impasse over the suspension of 12 MPs.
