The total number of positve coronavirus cases reported worldwide is 4,17,966 with 18,615 deaths. The rise in positive cases jumps to 40,028, while in Italy, deaths reported rise by 743 to 6820, as per a report by Johns Hopkins University.

  • As many as 100 of migrant workers stranded at Howrah Stationn since the last five days... nobody has come for the rescue as yet. They are stranded at the station as railways has suspended all trains. Local transport has been suspended too. These people have no food, no money and no way to go back home. The Bengal state government or the central government is yet to come forward and help them.

  • The Prime Minister's appeal to the public for a lockdown has had a big impact in this village at Rohtak. The hands of farmers who enter the village from the farms are being washed hands, even the bulls have been sanitized. Farmers said the rules will be adopted even at home. All routes entering the village are sealed, only the persons of the village are allowed to enter after sanitizing themselves, outsiders not allowed.

  • Amid the rising cases of coronavirus patients across the world, ear, nose and throat specialists in the UK on Tuesday (March 24) said that loss of taste and smell could be seen as a new symptom of the deadly virus. According to Independent, the British Association of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT UK) said the new symptom was found in the “absence of other symptoms” of coronavirus, and people who are showing the symptom could be “hidden carriers” of COVID-19.   • The Telegram group, called ‘MyGov Corona Newsdesk', aims to provide accurate updates and preventive measures to be taken to safeguard from the virus. Also, new initiatives and important messages from PM Modi are also shared on this group.

  • The BCCI will be feeling the heat as cancellation of Indian Premier League looks inevitable after Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared a 21-day lockdown on Tuesday to curb the outbreak of COVID-19 coornavirus pandemic in India.

    Speaking to PTI, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly did not have much to say considering the grim scenario. "I can't say anything at the moment. We are at the same place where we were on the day we postponed. Nothing has changed in the last 10 days. So, I don't have an answer to it. Status quo remains," Ganguly's helplessness was palpable.

    BCCI had postponed the IPL to April 15 earlier this month.

Addressing a press conference, WHO spokesperson said that though Europe is still the epicentre of coronavirus outbrealk but the US has registered a huge spike in coronavirus cases in the last few days.

In India, the number of cases on Tuesday at 11.39 pm reached 536, with 10 fatalities reported and as many as 40 recovery cases, according to data recorded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Tuesday till 8pm. There has been a rise of 65 cases and one death, despite several major steps taken by the government to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country, including a nation-wide shut down till April 15.
