    The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and other neighbouring areas for another two days.

    All schools in Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh have been directed to remain closed till October 12 as heavy rains lashed the district. District Magistrate Indra Veer Singh announced the decision through a statement, which covers all schools affiliated with AMU.

    Incessant rainfall throughout the day on Saturday brought the maximum temperature down sharply in Delhi and resulted in waterlogging in some parts of the city. The maximum temperature at the Safdarjung weather station settled at 23.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday, ten degrees below the normal for this time of the year.

    Meanwhile, IMD in its forecast had said that North and Central India is most likely to witness thunderstorm, with heavy rains during 8-10 October.

    There was a heavy traffic jam reported from the Zakhira flyover. Similar scenes were seen on the Najafgarh road towards Bahadurgarh, as well as on the Ring Road from Raja Garden Chowk to Dhaula Kuan loop.

UP/Delhi Rains: Noida schools have been ordered shut for today, October 10, 2022. The order to shut the schools in Noida, Ghaziabad and other parts of Uttar Pradesh were issued last night after incessant rainfall. The weather alert issued by IMD further suggests fresh rainfall in the region. As a precaution, holiday for today, October 10 has been declared in all schools in Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Aligarh, Agra, Lucknow, and Meerut. E order includes all schools – private as well as government. Also, schools for all classes till 12th would be shut.

It is under the influence of a western disturbance interacting with easterly winds that Delhi-NCR has seen overcast skies and rainfall on Friday and Saturday. According to IMD scientists, moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea has been high. Rainfall is likely to persist on Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast. Cloudy skies, moderate rainfall and thundershowers in some places are likely on Sunday.
