India on Sunday (July 12, 2020) recorded the highest single-day spike of 28,637 COVID-19 cases with the total number crossing 8.49 lakh. As per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data the tally stood at 8,49,553out of which 2,92,258 are active, 5,34,621 have been cured and migrated and 22,674 have died so far due to the infection.

Mumbai: Total surges to 92,988, while the death count is at 5,288.
Tamil Nadu: 4,244 new cases were reported today. Active - 46,969. Total - 1,38,470. Discharged - 89,532. Deaths - 1,966.
Chennai: 1,168 new cases. Active - 17,469. Total - 77,338.
West Bengal: 1,560 new cases and 26 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. The total tally stands at 30,013 including 932 deaths and 18,581 discharges.
Delhi: 1,573 new cases take the total to 1,12,494. Active cases at 19,155 and the death count is at 3,371.
Mumbai: Five new COVID-19 cases reported in Dharavi today, taking the total number of cases in the area to 2,375.

Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are the hotspots for Covid-19 cases among the states in India.
The Union Health Ministry said on Friday that the national fatality rate for Covid-19 patients has declined to 2.72 percent, adding that the fatality rate of 30 states/UTs is lower than the national average.
The recovery rate in India stands at 62.92 percent. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 1,15,87,153 samples tested for COVID19 till July 11, of these 2,80,151 samples were tested on Saturday.
