Coronavirus COVID-19 cases in India cross 1.1 lakh, death toll stands at 3435

In the past 24 hours, as many as 5,609 positive cases have been reported and 132 fatalities. While the recovery rate is 40.31%.

  • Total positive cases in India reach 112,359 and the death toll stands at 3,435.

  • Tamil Nadu: With 776 new cases, total cases reach 13,967. The total number of active cases are 7,588. A total of 3.72 lakh samples and 3.55 lakh people have been tested till date. A total of seven deaths have been recorded on Thursday and the total death toll stands at 94. 400 discharged on Thursday and total 6282 discharged. 

    In Chennai, there are total of 8,795 cases and active 5,681 cases. 567 cases have been reported on Thursday.

  • The total number of positive cases worldwide reaches 50,22,064 and the death toll stands at 328,639.

  • In Jharkhand, the total number of coronavirus infected patients is 294.

  • Karnataka: 143 new cases reported in 24 hours taking total active cases in the state to 992. Total COVID-19 deaths so far are 41. Total positive cases climb to 1605.

  • Bihar: With 96 new patients, total cases rise to 1,872. The cases area-wise are--Gopalganj 17; Katihar 19; Rohtas 18; Sheikhpura 24; Lakhisarai 9; Purniya 5; Munger 3; Khagadia 1.

  • The lowest fare for Delhi Mumbai route, the densest route in the country, has been fixed at Rs 3,500 and highest fare at Rs 10,000. The caps, along with rider of 40% tickets in lower bracket of band, enable us to ensure reasonable fares for both passengers & airlines: Civil Aviation Ministry

  • Even Indian Railways has started taking booking for 200 Special trains that will run from June 1 in a bid to provide relief to the passengers from Thursday (May 21). Bookings for these trains commenced at 10 am via Railway ticketing arm IRCTC. Only online e-ticketing will be done through IRCTC website or through Mobile App. Read more here

  • Some private airlines have started taking bookings for domestic passenger flight services starting June 1. Domestic passenger flight services will resume from May 25 in a calibrated manner, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Wednesday.

    The Centre on Thursday (May 21) issued the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for air passengers before the resumption of domestic flight services on May 25.   • One person died of coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh while 45 fresh cases were confirmed, taking the total number of infections in the state to 2,605, a bulletin from the government said on Thursday. (PTI)

  • Odisha reported its seventh COVID-19 fatality on Thursday, while 51 new coronavirus case were detected, taking the total number of such cases to 1,103, official sources said. (PTI)

  • Agra Covid-19 tally touched 831 as eight new cases were reported on Thursday. The recovery rate improves, with 660 patients discharged so far. (IANS)

     

  • Thailand on Thursday reported three new coronavirus infections and no new deaths, bringing the total to 3,037 confirmed cases and 56 fatalities since the outbreak started in January. (Reuters)

  • Gautam Buddha Nagar DM releases list of 63 containment zones. The Containment Zone is divided into two categories `First and Second` in the list issued. Accordingly, there are 37 Containment Zones in the first category and 26 in the second category. After a shut down of all activities which lasted 55 days, buses and private vehicles were allowed to ply the roads with certain restrictions in place; most shops have also been alllowed to reopen, though different states have imposed their own rules. 


Meanwhile, the ICMR said that a total of 25,12,388 samples have been tested by 9 am of Wednesday, and the testing capacity has been scaled up to 1 lakh tests per day. With less than 100 COVID-19 tests per day just two months ago, to a 1000-fold increase in just 60 days.


Globally, as many as 49 lakh confirmed cases have been reported worldwide with 3.2 lakh fatalities.
