India coronavirus, COVID-19 updates, May 3: Delhi`s COVID-19 cases increase by 427 to 4,549, death count at 64
India has decided to extend the ongoing nationwide lockdown beyond May 3 for two more weeks till May 17 while allowing different sets of relaxations in red, orange and green zones as the total number of confirmed cases in the country surged to 39,980 with death toll mounting to 1,301 across the country.

Delhi: 427 new positive cases have been reported in the national capital in the last 24 hours. The total number of positive cases stands at 4,549 now. 64 deaths have been reported in the national capital to date.
Delhi Police PRO, MS Randhawa: E-Passes issued by the Delhi Police will remain valid till May 17. Those who have been included in relaxations announced by Govt should carry the valid ID with themselves. I appeal to everyone to cooperate with the Police. Action will be taken against violators.
Madhya Pradesh: 49 more persons have tested positive for Coronavirus, taking the total number of cases to 2,837 in the state.
Maharashtra: 678 new cases reported in the state today, taking the total count to 12,974. With 27 new deaths, the death toll jumped to 548.
Chandigarh: 97 positive cases and 1 death have been reported until now. 19 people have been cured/discharged. There are 75 active cases of coronavirus currently.
Mumbai: 441 new COVID-19 cases and 21 deaths have been reported today, taking the total number of cases to 8,613 and deaths to 343. Total of 1,804 patients discharged till today.
Delhi Govt: Shops selling liquor, paan, gutka, tobacco, etc are allowed to operate provided they are standalone shops, neighbourhood (colony) shops, or shops in residential complexes. These shops shall ensure a minimum of 6 ft distance among customers¬ more than 5 persons at one time at a shop.

Punjab: 331 new cases have been reported, taking the total number of cases to 1,102 out of which 117 have been cured while 21 others succumbed to the infection. The number of active cases stands at 964.

Haryana: The number of COVID-19 positive cases touches 442 including 245 discharges and five deaths. The number of active cases stands at 192.
Mumbai: 94 new cases and 2 deaths reported in Dharavi today. The total number of positive cases in Dharavi is now 590, the death toll at 20.

Currently, there are 28,046 active cases while 10,633 COVID-19 positive patients have been cured/discharged.
Meanwhile, the Indian Armed has decided to salute and show solidarity to the corona warriors in India on Sunday.
Ministry of Railways on Saturday informed that few special trains which are being run for migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places, are being operated on request of state governments only.
In India, the state of Maharashtra has emerged as the epicenter of coronavirus spread where cases have crossed the 12,000-mark with at least 500 deaths. Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, has become the hotbed of the coronavirus spread in the state. Notably, one of the real challenges in Mumbai is controlling the disease contamination in Asia's biggest slum - Dharavi, which is an extremely densely-populated region.
Meanwhile, the classification of districts into red, green, and orange zones is being shared by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) with the States and Union Territories (UTs) on a weekly basis, or earlier, as required. While States and UTs can include additional districts as red and orange zones, they may not lower the classification of a district included by MoHFW in the list of red or orange zones.
The coronavirus outbreak across the globe has now infected over 34.5 lakh people with claiming more than 2.42 lakh lives. The United States (US) with 11,42,700 cases has been the worst-hit country in the world. The US in the last 24 hours reported more than 11,000 COVID-19 positive cases.
