According to Telangana State Election Commission's website, of the total 3535 seats, results of 2933 have been declared and TRS has so far won 1665 seats, followed by Congress-560, BJP-291, Independents-245, AIMIM-86, CPI-19, CPM-10, and TDP-8.

Celebrations broke out at TRS headquarters Telangana Bhavan here. Party cadres distributed sweets and burst crackers. Hailing his party's win, TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said the win was not an ordinary one as t has consistently won peoples mandate, beginning with the December 2018 assembly elections.

He hit out at the opposition parties for their allegations that TRS won the polls by using money power and misusing official machinery. TRS working president KT Rama Rao, the Chief Minister's son, said the massive victory was the peoples' endorsement of the welfare and development programmes.

The opposition Congress and BJP attacked the TRS for alleged distribution of money misuse of official machinery. Congress MP A Revanth Reddy alleged that false cases were foisted on party leaders.

The party was not disappointed with the results and would continue to fight on behalf of people, he said. State BJP president K Laxman said it is only the BJP which can effectively take on TRS in Telangana and the results have proved that his party has a bright future in the state.

The ULB polls have become the costliest elections in the country, he claimed, adding that TRS candidates had spent over Rs one crore in each ward.

Earlier in the day, the counting of votes in the Municipal elections held in Telangana on January 22 began at 8:00 am. The total municipal wards in the 129 ULBs are 2,727 while there are 325 divisions in the nine municipal corporations.
