BJP's Shrikant Sharma represents the Mathura seat currently and is a minister in the Yogi Adityanath-led UP government. Sharma, Energy and Additional Sources of Energy minister in the Yogi Cabinet, had won the seat by defeating Pradeep Mathur from Indian National Congress (INC) by over a lakh vote margin. This year, Sharma is pitted against Congress' Pradeep Mathur and BSP’s SK Sharma.

BSP candidate SK Sharma was earlier in the BJP. Sharma had contested the 2017 Assembly elections on the BJP ticket from the Mant constituency. After being denied ticket for the 2022 Assembly polls, the veteran leader resigned from the primary membership of the party and joined the Bahujan Samaj Party.
